My only complaint is that I wish it had wider margins for notes, --we Catholics never get that right!For $22.14 you get:1) A leather-bound Bible which lays nice and flat for easy reading.2) Sewn Binding.3) Two red quality ribbons that are NOT too short.4) Light/Somewhat cream-colored & Gold-edged pages with minimal page bleed.5) A very nice double-columned format with chapter titles.6) Nine maps which include:1. The Nations of Genesis Chapter 102. The Exodus from Egypt3. The Conquest of Canaan4. The Kingdom Years5. Jerusalem - From David to Christ6. Palestine in Christ's Time7. It's great because it does not have "inclusive language", but respects the gender in which the original texts were written. It's great for teaching, quoting, studying, and has great maps. I’ve been a devoted daily reader of the Bible for many decades. I’ve always wanted to carry a Bible with me when away from home, but often found it difficult to do so. Recently, I decided to give an ebook edition of the Bible a try. It didn’t take long for me to find one that suits my needs perfectly: The Ignatius Bible, Kindle Edition.This ebook edition of the Bible has everything I want. It is the Revised Standard Version – Catholic Edition (RSV-CE) that includes the Deuterocanonical books of the Old Testament (those books are recognized as canonical by the Catholic Church.) The language is glorious to read. The RSV-CE is rendered in modern English that is easy to understand, but it retains much of the majestic “flavor†and “feel†of the ancient King James Version upon which it is based. There are plenty of helps available in the form of explanatory notes, maps, and cross-references, all conveniently located together at the back of the book, but easily accessible by asterisks and other markings within the biblical text. That allows me to read passages without distraction or interruption, unless I need to refer to the notes.The Ignatius Bible Kindle Edition is very easy to navigate. With a couple mouse clicks or touches of my device’s screen, I can access a very good drop-down menu that takes me immediately to any book and chapter that I choose. The print is very easy on my eyes. I can adjust font size and style in the same manner as other Kindle books. Of course, I can read my Bible on any Kindle-compatible device, including my laptop PC, Android tablets, and my smartphone.I am very pleased with my new Ignatius Bible Kindle Edition. It's a most convenient way for me to carry my Bible wherever I go. Highly recommended.
A beautiful edition of the RSV-CE2 version of the Bible, most favoured by scholars, academics, and those who prefer traditional (non-"PC"/non-feminist) language.Bound in a soft, supple, Cordovan (burgundy-brown coloured) "bonded leather".Pages are easy-on-the-eyes cream-coloured, and of a slightly heavier weight than the usual very thin Bible "India" paper.Excellent for Lectio Divina, this is clearly more of a "reading" Bible, rather than one used for traditional study purposes due to sparse footnotes and very limited page margins (please see my photos).Several full colour maps are included, as well as an informative multi-page Introduction.This Bible is printed in the United States of America.I own multiple Catholic Study Bibles, but needed one simply for reading/Lectio Divina.Between the clear, readable font (approx. 9pt. serif), and portability (size and weight), this minimalist Bible suits my purposes perfectly.I can easily recommend this lovely, yet practical soft-bound, leather edition of the Ignatius Revised Standard Version-Catholic Edition Bible.Thank you for reading,-CC, Amazon Prime Member-Reviewer
The Ignatius Bible (kindle edition) is a great buy. I used to use a cheap Douay-Rheims Bible on my kindle, but it was hard to use due to the significant lack of links. This Bible, on the other hand, has a link-rich interface. The language is also more up to date (being the RSVCE edition), but in a way that more clearly reflects the rich beautiful texts of scripture as compared to the New American Bible. If you are like me and have a hard time reading your physical bible at night, get this version and get reading. As St. Jerome said, "Ignorance of scripture is ignorance of Christ." May you be blessed in your future encounters with the Word!
