This is the first of many horse coloring books coming ahead. My love for horses has started at the age of 3 and my first drawing contest held for the whole state of NY was an entry of a horse drawn at the age of 5 which won special prize" and a trip to the White House. Though I am a traditional artist and have held many exhibitions with oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings, entering the adult coloring book arena allowed me to explore with intricate patterns and designs incorporated into realistic rendering of animals.  My first coloring book was based on animals which was a lot of fun. The endure hours of creating a horse coloring book was beyond satisfaction. Adding more beauty to an animal that already carries its own beauty and charm made creating this book come out with ease through the endless hours of work and sweat. This horse coloring book only allowed me to realize, there are still endless possibilities of new horses and poses and patterns that you can color with your own endless creative ideas.  If you love horses and coloring, stay posted for more to come.

Most beautiful horse coloring book I have! The cover got my attention and the contents did not disappoint. Just enough pattern design to infuse the horses with creative choices yet not require tedious little spaces to color. A few whimsical creations, such as turtles flying with Pegasus. Previous reviews very helpful especially the post with video showing all the pages in the book and the artists website "SelahWorks" where you can download coloring pages or view her other books. Couldn't wait to start my first page which reminds me very much of a mare I used to own, the eyes are very realistic. Will post images as I finish pages. UPDATE: I now have 6 of Cindy's books and this one, along with the Midnight version, are my favorites. Get her Dog or Cat books too!

This is a revised version of my review. The artist republished this book with a slightly different design mix. Of note, the zebra design and that of the horse with the Native American are no longer in the current version of the book. Additional designs have been added and deleted and some which remained were modified and/or cropped differently. It as different enough that I felt that I should re-purchase the book to update my video, my colored samples, and the design samples as well.This is my second coloring book of designs by this talented artist. Her first coloring book is one of a variety of animals, including horses. In this coloring book, horses are the main theme. The horses are beautifully and realistically drawn in the line form and then the artist adds other elements, shading and “doodles” with the horse to give the colorist the ability to have more fun when coloring the designs.The designs are fun, easy to color, and have a nice level of detail without having small and minute areas to color. There are 43 coloring designs (46 if you include the horses on the intro pages to the book.) A number of the designs have gray scale shading already added to them, which makes shading easy as the base color (usually in marker for me) takes on a darker hue when put over the gray.The designs are printed on one side of non-perforated paper. The binding is glued rather than sewn so you will have to cut pages out if you wish to remove them. Only two of the designs merge into the binding, so you will lose some portion of the design if you cut the page out. A couple of other come close and you will have to be careful if you cut them out. I was able to break the spine of the book and get it to lay fairly flat.All of my markers (both alcohol and water-based) bled through this paper. My India ink artist pens did not bleed through the paper. My gel pens did not bleed through but left a shadow on the back of the page. The gel pens did not take any extra drying time. My coloring pencils worked fairly well and according to the type of lead used (soft or hard lead.) I will certainly be using some markers when coloring these designs, so I will use a piece of chip board or card stock under the page that I am working on to keep the ink from leaking through the rest of the book.These are the coloring medium that I use for testing. If there is something else you feel I should be testing, please let me know and I will see if I can add it to my growing pile:Markers: 1) alcohol-based – Copic Sketch, Prismacolor double ended markers (brush and fine point), Sharpies (fine and ultra-fine) Bic Mark-its (fine and ultra-fine) and 2) water-based – Tombows dual end markers (brush and fine point), Stabilo 88, Staedler triplus fineliners, and Pentel markersIndia Ink: Faber Castell PITT artist pens (brush tip)Gel Pens: Sakura, Fiskars, Uni-ball Signo in the following sizes - 0.28/0.38/0.5/1.0 and TekwriterColoring Pencils: Prismacolor Premier Soft Core, Derwent Colorsoft, Prismacolor Verithins, and Faber-Castel Polychromos

I am always on the lookout for horse coloring books. This one is exceptional. It is filled with over 40 lovely pages. The horses are done in different styles. Most have designs within, but there are a few more realistic drawings as well. There are sweet babies, a couple of winged horses and one very cute baby zebra. The bird and horse muzzle page just made me smile. The lines are easy to see and the edges of the drawings aren't cut off without regard as they were in the last horse book I ordered. The paper is on the lighter side, but the pages are single sided and not perforated. There are no two-page spreads. This is my first review, but I had to share and recommend this fine book to any horse lover!

Wonderful coloring book for a horse lover! Purchased for my 12 year old daughter's birthday. This is her first adult coloring book and she has just loved it! It is so relaxing for her. She loves to color at night winding down before bed. It has made such a difference in her ability to settle down and go to sleep. I'm going to be on the hunt for more coloring books when this one is finished. One note, we have learned that more "professional" type colored pencils are better for the tiny lines of adult coloring books. Plain ole school pack Crayola pencils work, but you will be a lot happier with your coloring results with better pencils. The lead stays sharp longer and there are more color choices.

A wonderful book. Will make Xerox copies of the horses to color. This book is so much fun to look at and enjoy the horses.

I should first state two things; I love horses, and I love coloring. I love this book because it is horses all the way through. I also like that there is a selection of drawings that are details that I have enjoyed spending the time coloring. You do want with sharp pencils or thin markers for the detailed drawings. There are other drawings which have larger areas to color with broader markers. I like this because sometimes I just want to finish a picture quickly. The pictures once finished are great I love them. The pictures are just on one side of the paper so if the marker bleeds through it is not a problem. I do use a spare sheet of paper to catch any major blotting but that is because I like to use markers. The book is a soft backed book that can easily be folded or rolled up. I love this I will look to get another volume once this is finished.

I bought this coloring book for my wife, who loves the creative arts. She also is a horse lover, so this gift was perfect for her. The pictures are well drawn and feature interesting patterns to color. She uses color pencils for her book.Pros:- Makes a great gift for a horse lover- Great pictures to color- Book layout and paper quality is good for the average personCons:- Sometimes the patterns on the horses are too small to get the color on.- Some of the patterns on the horses are a little too 'flower power' but if you like that sort of thing, this is for you.

This author artist is THE BEST... if you love coloring horses you HAVE to get this book....it is really a great book... very kewl pictures to color, all horses, some different breeds, different styles but all excellent

Noteworthy experiences while reading this book: Just wow I just finished this one and I am just so blown away! YES!!!!!Notes and Opinions: When I started this book I knew I was going to love it. Cynthia Hand has been a fav author of mine since I read her Angel series (which I still need to finish, book two is a killer man! 😂 ) This one is about a girl who fails to listen to the ghosts and well she DIES! And she has to play Ghost of Christmas Past. This one I thought was going to be a clean cut story where this girl gets reformed and grows a heart and although some of what I thought did play out it didn't play out in the way I thought it was going to. This one had a great pace and some surprises that I just didn't see coming at all! I was happy where the story lead and the ending was mind-blowing and so satisfying! It goes to show you how even little things your life is connected to others around you even strangers on the street. You guys! I just finished such a fun read! And I found a good deal on it, so you should totally consider getting this book. It’s The Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand. Putting a modern, romantic spin on Charles Dickens’ The Christmas Carol, it’s full of sweetness and humor and snarkiness. It doesn’t seem like something fun could come out of The Christmas Carol, so you’ll have to trust me on this one."What Is The Afterlife of Holly Chase About?From Goodreads:On Christmas Eve five years ago, Holly was visited by three ghosts who showed her how selfish and spoiled she’d become. The romance is done well, but be warned that it might not turn out how you think it will, which is part of the charm of the story.

This was the cutest Christmas story! I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this book because the synopsis made it seem a bit cheesy but I had a really great reading experience. Especially since I listened to it on audiobook.The characters were hit or miss for me. Holly, who is an awful person at the beginning of the story but gradually evolves into a better person as the story goes on, has a great character arc. When the story skips in time after Holly's death I liked that she was still not a great person, but she had improved some from her pre-death personality. Because I knew I wasn't gong to be able to handle a whole book where the character was that unlikable. I was rooting for Holly, but I didn't love all of her decisions and she often frustrated me. I didn't like Stephanie, or really anyone on Project Lamp. Stephanie was supposed to be a 20 year old college student but she acted way too young. However, I am not sure if this is a writing thing or the narrator's voice for Stephanie. Holly points this out multiple times, so it was purposely, but it drove me a little nuts. Everyone else on Project Lamp were a bit boring for me. Maybe also a bit annoying. I really loved Boz, who was a strict but incredibly soft mentor who I would have loved to be in more scenes. I also would have loved to get to know both Dave and Blackpool more. I found the love interest, Ethan, to be okay but nothing super unique. I liked Holly's connection towards him because of how much she could relate her own past life to his.The plot had me the most interested. I am typically more of a fan of character drive plots, and though I didn't mind the characters overall, I was mostly motivated to keep reading because I needed to know what would happen next. I was hooked from the get go. I loved the unique idea and how the story in A Christmas Carol is used to make this really cool story idea come to life. I didn't even really mind the romance. It was cute and the dialogue between the two characters Holly and Ethan was witty and often time romantic.The writing was okay. It didn't blow me away but I fund it to be digestible and easy to fly though. I think it takes a lo to write a Christmas story and have it not dripping with cheese but I think Cynthia Hand did a good job at making it more heartwarming than cheesy. It had it's moments where I felt like it was cheesy but it's a Christmas story so that is to be expected.Overall, if you're looking for a fun Christmas story to read to hype yourself up for the holidays I highly recommend it. It was so much fun to read and I think anyone could enjoy it.

This is an amazing book. The author I have never read before, but he makes it easy for a non-specialist to comprehend the incredible work of St. Maximilian Kolbe regarding our Lady's title as revealed in the 1854 appearance, Immaculate Conception.Kolbe's insights into the title itself (Immaculate Conception) and all its implications are completely enlightening and give one a far deeper comprehension of Mary, her role, how the Trinity works functionally and our relation to this wonderful God and His Immaculate Conception He created for the primary purpose to bear God become man in her womb and thus become Theotokos, God bearer and Mother of God (the Greek term means both).This is essential reading, particularly for those who in some measure comprehend the basics of Church teaching on Mary, Mariology as it is called. I would hope all clergy would read this so they might draw from the wellsprings of Kolbe's enlightened teaching and share that with all people, especially their congregants.

This book has changed my life and understanding of the "Immaculate Conception" Our Blessed Mother of God. Every Catholic must and should have this on their shelves. I have this book marked everywhere! It is written by Fr. H.M. Manteau-Bonamy, OP, who is a theologian with great insight on St. Kolbe's writtings. It is always important to me that my books have an Imprimatur which this book does have! I will quote just some of the book to give an idea whats in store for you!..."In what does this life of the Spirit in Mary consist? He himself is uncreated Love in her; the love of the Father and of the Son, the Love by which God loves himself, the very love of the Most Holy Trinity. He is a fruitful Love, a 'Conception'. Among creatures made in God's image the union brought about by married love is the most intimate of all. In a much more precise, more interior, more essential manner, the Holy Spirit lives in the soul of the Immaculata, in the depths of her very being. He makes her fruitful, from the very first instant of her existence, all during her life, and for all eterinty."The union between the Immaculata and the Holy Spirit is so deep we can't completely understand it."For the Holy Spirit is her spirit."To make himself clear he states that the Holy Spirit is not incarnate in Mary. Only Jesus the Second Person of the Trinity became incarnate and took flesh. But he states that the Holy Spirit is so deeply present in Mary St. Kolbe says "The Holy Spirit is quasi (in some manner) incarnate, without being really and strictly incarnate; for Mary the Immaculata is, as such, taken up by the Holy Spirit in all her being, as a woman and as a mother.""Jesus Christ has two natures, divine and human, which are united in one single divine Person; such is theexact and precise formulation of the dogma. The Immaculata is united to the Holy Spirit so closely that we really cannot grasp this union. But we can at least say that the Holy Spirit and Mary are two persons who live in such intimate union that they have but one sole life."When seen in this light we can understand better the gifts the Father has sent us, Jesus his son, and Mary a living image an icon of the Spirit of Love in the Most Holy Trinity."God sends us the one who personifies his love: Mary, the spouse of the Spirit- a spirit of maternal love- immaculate, all beautiful, spotless, even though she is our sister, a true daughter of the human race. God confides to her the communication of his mercy to souls. He makes of her the Mediatrix of the graces merited for us by her divine Son, for she is full of grace, the mother of all souls born of grace, reborn, and always being reborn, becoming ever more God-like."Every Catholic must have this! When you think of the Immaculate Conception, the average Catholic understands that Mary was conceived without sin in the womb of St. Ann. But that is just the tip of the majesty of what God prepared for Her of whom He spoke in Genesis 3:15, "I will put emnity between thee and the Woman..." To all those who cannot understand the vocation of the Mother of God, St. Maxamilian will open your eyes to the rest of the story, words written with a passionate, inspired wisdom on a subject as deep as it is hidden.

I purchased the three-part set of Math, English and Practice tests. So, this is a review of the set. Why a two-star review? Actually, it should be a two and a half star. Here's my rub with this set. This set covers both lower level and upper level material and, except for the practice tests and some other very limited areas, it's not clearly identified what material is lower level and what material is upper level.So, if your student is going to an independent middle school and then high school, this set may be fine, except your student may find themselves covering upper level math when they should be focusing on the lower level math. Or, if your student is taking the upper level exam, they might find themselves wasting time on lower level math or vocabulary. It would be better to have separate lower level and upper level versions of the book because, unless you have two students - one of which is testing for middle school and the other for high school - only half of the material is of use (and it isn't clearly labeled which material is for which exam).At least the tests are labeled which level they are. However, since I bought this for my daughter who is testing for an independent high school, the lower level material is of no use and could be harmful in that she could find herself led to believe that the math or vocabulary will be easier than it really will be.I think a much better approach would be to have separate books for the lower level versus upper level.

This book is okay. Sadly, it is one of the best prep books out there for the SSAT. That said, it doesn't have a lot of competition.The problem with this book is that it has lower, middle, and upper level SSATS (2 of each). As such, only 2 tests in the book are relevant to any student in particular.This book might be more useful as a resource for a tutor than for a student.

I own a tutoring center and we require all SSAT prep students (grades 5+) to buy the Ivy Global Math & English books. We've had very good results for 5 years. Yes, there are lower cost books but these are comprehensive, well organized and easily used. Our tutors also like the way students can engage with Ivy Global's online SSAT resources. It's a well coordinated approach to improve scores on a very challenging test.

The practice is decent but this book is horridly overpriced. You can find equally good quality review material online for free.

Great book and I recommend this to every SSAT test taker.

In my opinion, this book is overpriced.As an SSAT and ISEE tutor, I can confidently say that lack of materials is absolutely the biggest problem. There are only a few official practice tests directly from the test makers (unlike the SAT, which has at least a dozen tests released at any time).While the tests in this book are comparable, both in level and in content, to the actual SSAT, the book itself is too expensive. A company called Test Prep Works (with whom I have no affiliation) offers complete practice tests that are just as good for less than half the price, plus they have books with strategies and extra practice sets.Ivy Global's materials seem to do a good job, but they're just not worth the cost.

Every student of 19th-century fashion needs to have six books from Dover Publications in his or her library:- Victorian Fashions and Costumes from 'Harper's Bazar', Stella Blum;- Victorian and Edwardian Fashions from La Mode Illustree, Joanne Olian;- Wedding Fashions 1860-1912, Joanne Olian;- Victorian and Edwardian Fashion: A Photographic Survey, Alison Gernsheim;- English Women's Clothing in the Nineteenth Century, C. Willett Cunnington;- and this book.Carol Grafton's book is really more of an assemblage of pictures for illustrators than anything else, but what pictures! Over 900 B&W drawings lovingly display every little detail of the elaborate costumes of the Victorian and early Edwardian eras from the mid-1850's to 1903. This book doesn't have much in the way of text so it's not as comprehensive a research resource as some of the others that I've mentioned, but as an auxiliary resource to the other books on the above list, it's perfect.

The pictures are detailed and beautiful, but I do wish there were more examples of different kinds of clothing. Most of these seem very upper-class and dressy. I was hoping to see a variety of clothing, including simpler day to day attire for lower and middle classes as well.

A great collection of photos if you're interested in Victorian Fashions.

I would rank this book just behind Victorian Fashions and Costumes from Harper's Bazar, 1867-1898 (Dover Pictorial Archives) by Stella Blum and Full-Color Victorian Fashions : 1870-1893 by JoAnne Olian. If you have to be selected go with the first two before this one, but I still highly recommend this to round out the collection. More than 900 very detailed crisp drawing from the marvelous people at Dover Publishing again. They bring you inexpensive books that are a wealth of information, writers of period romance just cannot live without.

I purchased this book because it has images of both women and men's accessories separate from the full outfit so it gives the reader/researcher a clearer vision of the layers that make up the costume.

This is a fantastic collection of JUST illustrations, in wonderful detail and in Victorian pen/ink drawing style.This is a great resource for the following users:Any surface designers: these illustrations can be scanned in, recolored and used in a variety of surface and product designsWriters: a great visual reference to describe characters' clothing in gothic novels or short storiesFashion Design students: as reference, an idea source on design details or to practice sketchingScrapbookers/crafters: a variety of projects, my favorite being scanning in at high resolution, enlarging in any design software and doing a heat transfer on canvas to create Pottery barn/Anthropologie style pillowsCostume Designers; great reference for any theatrical production of this period, with tons of ideas.Web designers: a huge collection of images for any websites that call for a vintage feel - boutiques, collectors, restaurants and events.I do wish that this book had a CD-Rom included, but its not really a big deal - I find that i do not even use the scanner to import the images most of the time, but snap a picture with my phone and upload it.This book as exactly as the title describes: illustrations. I think that some of the 1 and 2 star reviews on this item are unfair with complains about the lack of descriptions or exact historical references.It is JUST illustrations, and anyone seeking a more informative resource should do more research about the item, rather than leave bad reviews.
