I bought this as a gift for a friends sister who as Lupus. She was in the hospital for quite sometime and lost a lot of motor function and needed to rebuild that strength after discharge. She The Last Airbender and is quite artistic so with some Prismacolor color pencils, this fit the bill perfectly! She's well on her way to recovery.

Thick pages are good for coloring. Gave as an adult gift and she loves it. Almost kept it for myself tbh. Pictures are *slightly* different from the animation style, and not allnof them are scenes from the show which I liked.

I got this coloring book not too long after I finished watching the show for the first time and it is a dream. I know it’s a different artist but I like it, even if you try to copy the colors and everything from the show exactly there’s opportunities to be a bit creative. Plus not all the scenes are directly from the show, but they all correspond to an episode and a quote is on each page. It’s not overbusy while still maintaining key features to make it more enjoyable and the backgrounds aren’t daunting to color. This is a top notch coloring book alone but even better for a fan of the show.

This book is amazing! I just got it and I can't wait to color in it, I may even order another one. I love how each picture has the quotes with which episode they occurred as well. The book is very sturdy and legit. Couldn't be happier... well, not enough Azula, but that's just me.

Adorable pictures and recognizable scenes, plus a few extras. I actually like that it was done by a different artist than the show - it adds even more character to the drawings and puts a different spin on some of the scenes. The print has high definition and the book is great quality overall.

This coloring book does a great job including all the main characters from the show. It also incorporates many of the unique animals featured in Avatar the last Airbender. Some may complain the art work differs from that of TV show, but I find it more artistic and the artist captured the scenes and personalities of the characters to a tee.

This is a excellent coloring book. Bought one for myself and my daughter. Some of the pictures didn't quite match up with the series, but still very good.

Tariq Thachil’s _Elite Parties, Poor Voters: How Social Services Win Votes in India_ is one of the best political science books I’ve read in a long time. The research design is carefully conceived and superbly executed, and the writing is clear and convincing. This book should be on the reading list for any graduate course in qualitative research design or research design in general.One of the strengths of Thachil’s book is its mixed-methods design, which integrates macro data with in-depth field work and surveys conducted on-site in rural villages. This multi-level approach allows him to test hypotheses at a variety of levels to triangulate support for his theory. Because his theory argues that social services buy votes not as quid pro quo but instead by creating its party cadres as valuable, respected members of the community – opinion leaders, if you will, exercising soft power instead of hard – an important part of the evidence had to come from party cadres themselves as well as from the poor rural voters. The theory has implications at the level of Indian states, which are the primary alternative providers of social services, at the level of party and party activist behavior, and at the level of voters, and Thachil’s careful, precise design captures all three.Not being an expert on India, I can’t say whether there possibly were better locations to have chosen, but the justifications (and data) given in the book for the choices and comparisons were sufficiently convincing for this reader. The mix of descriptive and inferential statistics used created appropriate but still accessible support for the claims, and the claims made were reasonable interpretations of the available evidence. Appropriate attention was paid to interpreting non-events and the absence of evidence. I was thoroughly convinced after reading this book, and that’s not a claim I make lightly or frequently.

This is good for inspiration, but so many of the recipes use obscure or hard to find ingredients -- and very specific ingredients -- that there are probably only a handful of recipes I'd actually ever really want to tackle. But even the ones I'd never make are fun to look at. There are also a fair number of simpler recipes, but some of them are so simple that I'd think anyone with the skill to make the not-so-simple recipes would already know that you can put onions and tomato in a pot to make tomato sauce.I did make Stowell's Butternut Squash Risotto, and it was mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. It was also a little too rich, thanks to the addition of a cup of parmesan at the end -- a step I wouldn't repeat, since risotto is already so "cheesy" even without the addition of cheese. I think, though, that I could have just as easily used the Joy of Cooking risotto recipe and just added squash, and it would have turned out just as well. But! I did get the idea from Stowell, even though I already had the squash on hand (or ground, since it came from my garden).All in all, if you're a cookbook collector and love cookbooks for the ideas, more than for the recipes, I think this is a good buy. It would also probably be a good bet for anyone who loves Italian cooking but wants to get a little more adventurous. I certainly wouldn't recommend it to a beginning cook, or anyone with an aversion to seeking out very specific ingredients.

Nothing worse than a fussy cookbook.If you like modern Italian food (classic techniques with perhaps unconventional or more regional ingredients), you should have this.Clean, simple, relatively straightforward prep, and a great book design (to the point where you could make this a coffee-table piece). And it's food you could actually make at home, with a bit of planning and/or substitution (for the more exotic ingredients) - and it's going to look like you slaved.My one quibble would perhaps be that this seems more geared to West Coast readers - here in Connecticut it can be difficult finding things like Sea Urchin...However, based simply on the quality of these recipes, next time I'm out there, I'm looking for one of his restaurants.

This is a foodie's cookbook. "Cheese of the Civilized and Desserts for the Rest of You" should give you an indication of the culinary tone of the book. It's by no means pretentious, but the ingredients can be characterized as exotic (sea urchin, geoduck, etc.) and, surprisingly, rustic (oxtails, rabbit, duck, etc.) depending on your location. The preparation methods are simple and the recipes use a only few ingredients; it's about highlighting key flavors with a small supporting cast.For my palette, the best sections of the book are "Starches to Grow On..." and "Something Foraged..." A great bonus for me are the sauces and dressing recipes. I don't think this is what the author intended. If you are a foodie with access to geoduck, this is a great book. For those of us with more mainstream grocery options and palettes, I don't recommend the book.

At times though I did wish there was a bit more detail for the ingredients that even an experienced home cook may work with less often like Sea Urchin or rabbit.Many of the recipes also require ingredients that are difficult to source. Not marking the cookbook down any stars for this because again, it's something I expect with cookbooks from chefs. The one thing that did disapoint me is that often times the author calls for very specific varieties of something like a pepper that are somewhat uncommon. A great cookbook in my opinion is one that also references substitutions in cases where an item may be hard to source. Many of the great cookbooks do this and this is one of the things that makes this book good, but not amazing.I also personally would have loved a little more storytelling around the recipes and the ingredients. It in many cases makes a recipe more appealing to me and brings it to life more, but this is a matter of personal taste.Overall this is a good book, it's definitely not aimed at everyone, but knowledgable, adventurous cooks will find it interesting and challenging.

I got this cheat sheet primarily for the formula reference, but the other information appears to have the appropriate balance between dictionary definition and deeper explanation that one should expect from a cheat sheet. Most importantly, the information appears to be free from errors.The physical quality is pretty good as well. My copy has gotten shuffled around a bit, it didn't go straight into a binder for safe storage, and it still looks same as I got it so far. The only potential downside is the contrast between background color and text color is less than the presented from the image in the listing here and I presume that may be a problem with people who need more contrast to read text equivalent to 12-14px sized fonts on the computer.

Best purchased I ever made. They say you get what you paid for, but in this case I got a whole lot for a little price! Great reference sheet for the kids while doing homework. Easy to take along. It's laminated and very durable. I have since bought several for different subjects. It's hard to remember all the formulas it and it helps during review time for exams.

My son was a little dismissive when I first got this, but quickly realized how useful it was once he got into the class. I plan on getting him some of the others!

I had read a few of Lien's short stories in various magazines, and when I heard the buzz about his upcoming "Peasprout Chen" series, I was really excited.I LOVED the first book in the series ("Peasprout Chen: Future Legend of Skate and Sword"), and when I heard about "Battle of Champions" I did two things. (1) I pre-ordered it. (2) I worried that it wouldn't be as good as the first book.I worried for no reason. Book 2 is even better.Everything about "Battle of Champions" is excellent: the vivid and original world of Pearl (brought to life in even greater detail), the believable characters, the surreal and creative fight choreography (I read a lot of books and I've never read anything with action scenes like these), the humor, and the refreshing absence of cynicism.If you like books with a unique premise that can entertain you AND make you think about important, complicated, and emotionally-charged stuff, you will like this series. I highly recommend it.

I've been waiting for this to come out and it doesn't disappoint! It's a hilarious, rollicking adventure. Some parts, I couldn't stop laughing—and now I want a Nobody & the Fire Chickens team shirt! There are two huge surprises in this book that I won't reveal but I am dying for the next book!!!

Peasprout 2 picks up where the first book left off. Peasprout, Cricket, Doi and Hisashi continue their exploits in Pearl. Fast paced and entertaining, filled with action and adventure, book 2 has surpassed my expectations. Those who became fans of Peasprout in book 1 are in for a treat! Long live Peasprout!

After enjoying the world-building in the first Peasprout Chen book, this second in the series seemed to drag. Peasprout's unwillingness to see the strengths of others, including her own brother, became annoying, and I disliked both the surprise reveal and the cliff-hanger ending. I will probably read the final volume, but I'm not necessarily eagerly awaiting it. Review based on an ARC through NetGalley.

Everything I loved about the first book turned up to eleven. Loved it through and through!

This booklet contains the complete Title 47 Part 97 law that forms the basis of regulation for amateur radio. The book is divided into roughly two equal parts. The last half of the book contains the unexpurgated version of Part 97. The first half of the book contains commentary on the law (by Dan Henderson N1ND)--which is helpful since some regulations are rather obtuse (like the definition of "Line A") and like any other law, the interpretation is subject to, well, interpretation. Anyone contemplating joining the ranks of amateur radio operators would be well advised to obtain a copy of Part 97 and read the law. The modest size of Part 97 is somewhat surprising given the natural tendency of governments to over-regulate. However, the FCC has always relied on the fall-back phrase: "each amateur station must be operated in accordance with good engineering and good amateur practice" SubPart B 97.101a.

Every ham ought to have a copy handy - if only to reply to those who want you to "sign" after every transmission.

FCC rules in one book. It is what it is. Nothing special just government rules. Good read if you need to go to sleep.

This book is a must for any operator of Amateur Radios. The book is from ARRL, which is the leader in Amateur Radio materials. The book is thin, but the size of a sheet of paper - I would rather have a smaller, possibly thicker book to include in my go kit.I think the book is a little over priced at list as the entire regulations are available online for free and can be printed out. As of my review, there have been some changes to Part 97 - but nothing significant to require a revision. (That means you have to keep up with the regs, something ARRL can help you do!) The book does include ARRL's The FCC Rules and You to give you guidance on how to use the rules in your daily operating.I was fortunate that I paid a fraction of the cost for this book - so keep an eye out and maybe Amazon will discount this book.
