Cora, who is a Very Good Girl, winds up with something she doesn’t want but truly needs: a Very Bad Crocodile! Full of joy and silliness and mischief and mayhem, it also teaches some deep and wise lessons about knowing and feeling one’s own feelings, and having the courage to speak up for one’s own needs, even when the people in charge, who are supposed to be wise, don’t want to listen. Something many children may need to hear — and may be a few grownups, too!I would recommend this for all young readers. The language may be a little advanced for age 4, depending on the child, but the ideas and the illustrations will still carry the story; the language in the concepts could probably be interesting up through age 7 or 8, because there is enough to take from the story and the pictures as a jumping off point for further conversation. The mad, bad, wild, butt-biting crocodile also adds enough interest for any children who, on the face of it, might resist a story that seems to be about a nice princess.On the negative side, it’s unfortunate that this is yet another children’s book that seems to show the world as consisting only of Caucasian people. The princess & castle type of story takes place in a fantasy Early Europe, when “European” was synonymous with “Caucasian.” So the author is just being consistent with this. Still, if we can imagine talking, magic crocodiles, maybe we can imagine less homogenous human characters in our contemporary books. This may be a consideration for families, like ours, that seek diversity in their reading.

Read this out loud to my 5 year old twins. They loved it! They haven't started kindergarten yet (to gauge comprehension levels). We read a chapter or 2 a day. These chapters are not dense like a novel, but they are more word heavy than a preschooler's book. There are 7 chapters with about a picture every time you turn the page to help their imaginations along. The print is fairly large as well. An older reader would also enjoy the subject matter. My 5 year olds just aren't reading yet and when they start, it won't be on longer books like this. Overall, cute book.

My granddaughter is named Cora, so of course, I bought this book. She is a baby so I read it to her older brothers. I took a picture with my iPhone of the lovely cover and printed it out and framed it for Cora's room. This is an idea for anyone who wants gets pictures for a kid's room, such as the cover of Goodnight Moon or this book.

While the basic story is formula {it is another princess...groan) the author's treatment and superb writing set this one above a ton of others. Best crocodile ever! And Cora is not TOO "princessy". This story actually does a lot to redeem the stricken princess theme. Total delight.

Wonderful story. Beautiful, color illustrations that kept my newly turned 7 year old twins extremely engaged. My girls are just starting to read early chapter books, and I am always on the look out for chapter books with color illustrations - it just helps keep them interested. Reading is hard work for them at this point, and color illustrations have made the transition from picture books to chapter books a lot easier. We loved this book!

For those of you with children between the ages of 4 and 8, I highly recommend Princess Cora and the Crocodile. It's the story of a young princess who longs for one day of freedom from her strict nanny and overprotective parents. Help arrives in the form of a naughty yet lovable crocodile with a hankering for cream puffs. Cora is a winsome and adventurous heroine and children will be both horrified and delighted by the crocodile's bad behavior. Schlitz's amusing story is marvelously enhanced by Floca's playful illustrations. In my opinion, this is one of the best children's books of the year.

My 5 year daughters love this book! It is the story of a young princess who wishes to break free from her stodgy existence. With the help of a troublesome crocodile, she's able to experience a day off. When she returns, the crocodile has made such a mess of things, that the king, queen and nanny relent to her requests for a change to her daily routine.

One of our favorite books in our family. We love it as much as our 6-year-old daughter. We have easily read this book 5 times during the first month we had it.

I remember my first Addison Jane book it was "Harmony" and I instantly fell in love with her writing style, this MC world she created and all things club girl. So when I started reading Kennedy I felt that magic again..new characters to meet, some old ones to catch up with, a new Brothers by Blood Chapter & new Club Girls to fall in love with just like that first book. 💙 And boy did I fall...Kennedy & Repo will break your heart.. they've both been through hell and are both still fighting. With an undeniable chemistry & magnetic pull towards one another they simply cannot deny their connection. But these two have numerous obstacles in their way; both old & new demons to slay...Can they slay them together? Do yourself a favor & find out 💙

Absolutely great. Loved the new characters and the strength of Repo and his ability to reflect as to his broken past. Absolutely riveting and a real page turner. Definitely couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen next and definitely can’t wait to meet the other characters in their own stories

I loved the whole series. The characters were somewhat believable, and their interactions were too. I don't know anything about motorcycle clubs, not having belonged to one, or known people who were, so I am probably looking at the characters with rose colored glasses. (The men were respectful of the women, and to women were looking to improve themselves while satisfying their sexuality). So, put your rose colored glasses on, and enjoy a good read.

I could not put this book down. Kennedy is a wonderfully written book that I couldn't put down from page to end. This is powerful, with a hot alpha male helping Kennedy feel safe while she helps him be needed. There is so much I could say about this book but would give too much away. It is a must read and I hate I read it so fast. Addison Jane brings you into the book and makes you feel like you are a part of the story.

is a beautifully written story, which is sweet, emotional, heartbreaking and healing. I was totally captivated throughout Repo and Kennedy's story. Loved this book and love this series. I can't wait for the next one.

It was a great read. Thr characters are well developed and the story line will grab you and keep you reading. It is well worth the read. I can't wait for more books in this series.

This was a good book. It had a lot of twists and turns plus action and romance. What I didn't like was all the subplots. There were so many, that it really took away from the main story.

I wasn't sure whether I'd enjoy this being quite violent and having some triggers for the unsuspecting. I very much enjoyed it!! I love the "good" bikers and the girls and although it's fiction, I love a really good HEA.If you enjoy the Jessica Gadziala books, you also love these ones.

This was an easy but compelling read. Great balance between scientific and cultural/emotional background.

I picked this one up quickly. I'm a big fan of nature and the sea otter has always been on of my family's favorites. The author does a wonderful job of portraying the sea otter in all its glory: the good, the bad and the ugly. The author certainly did his due diligence in an extensive three years of research & field outings. He starts of by covering the history of the otter and deftly weaves it in with biology and ecology; coming up tto our present and the conundrums inherent in the natural world versus the commercial world. As is; unfortunately present - the readers finds himself, or herself looking at a contest between a human solutions that are natural versus an inhuman solutions that are commercial and corporate. So we have the sea otter exhibiting the dilemma of our times: nature versus corporate; public power versus private power.Todd McLeish seamlessly incorporates the theme of ecologies that are natural, juxtaposed to the commercial ones. The sea otter, an apex predator, plays a keystone role in the ecology of the sea forest, in adding to the abundance of life. This was the normal. But with the advent of the fur trade, an new normal took shape commercially. So that now, when discussing normal; there are two versions, natural and commercial.Also; the numerous facts that pepper the enriching pages, not only inform but bring about multiple understandings within several disciplines. They have the densest hair of any animal on earth; the only marine mammal with no blubber; the only Mustelid that does not dig a den or burrow; the only marine mammal that uses its paws rather than mouth to capture prey; and the only marine mammal capable of lifting and overturning rocks to find food; and one of the few mammals known to use tools. Since this is the case we tend to romanticize them in many ways, e.g., as in the PIXAR movie, "Finding Dory."The reality is that sea otters that once had a natural range extending along the entire west coast of North America, across the Aleutian Islands and down the Kamchat peninsula of Russia were nearly hunted to extinction in the 1800s to meet the demand of the fur industry, mainly in China, and by the end of the 1800s there were so few otters remaining that that market collapsed. Only a few small groups of otters survived in central California, Alaska, the Aleutians and Russia. All sea otters descended from these survivors.Coastal ecosystems underwent significant changes once sea otters were removed and humans took advantage of food sources that became available in otters' absence.This book takes an unvarnished look at the miraculous recovery of sea otters, how this recovery affected coastal ecosystems where they are now found and how otters and humans affect each other.Be advised that many of the things you already think about sea otters will be confirmed and many other things will raise your eyebrows as you read,FYI, I am a marine biologist by training and earned my degree at UC Santa Cruz, a place that features prominently in this narrative. It was therefore extremely interesting for me to learn more about these iconic animals and the various roles they play in ecological and economic ways.5 stars all the way!

What a fun book. In this day and age where humans are killing endangered animals through ignorance, greed, spite and cruelty, it's great to hear the story of some creature making a comeback. I'll admit I'm also biased towards otters since they were my high school mascot, and it doesn't help that they do adorable things all the freaking time. There are also a few color pictures in the middle, which was a nice touch, but I would have liked even more. Probably twice as many. If you're doing a book on a specific animal, the more pictures of them doing what they do in their natural habitat is always a bonus.There are thirteen chapters in this book, each taking place in a different part of the West Coast - from Big Sur, CA to Anchorage, AK. Each chapter gives a timeline of that location. So you'll go from the decline to rise of the otter in each of those areas, along with some other information about the flora and fauna in the region. Not every chapter is positive though. Some are still pretty dark and negative, but that's unfortunately a fact of life when you have people killing animals for the sake of killing, or things dying from pollution and runoff because we, as a species, can't be bothered to clean up our own mess. It's still a fantastic and gripping read though and I highly recommend, even if you're not a huge otter fan. It's well written and each chapter is short enough for a stand alone read. It's a short book; about 222 pages, not counting acknowledgments or works cited. Each chapter is about 15-16 pages, meaning you can get through this book in a hurry and still savor the contents. I highly recommend this book

Once in a while I'll read a book by a deep thinker, futurist or whatever. And occasionally, I see right away how/why this person is in the position they're in. I've read a couple of Seth Godin's books and come away thinking this guy really has a lot unique and clear insights; things that would not be obvious to the average person. So, while I believe there is more to life than marketing (even if you include marketing yourself) I can see why people buy Godin's books and hear him speak. Kawasaki is another matter. Enchantment, it turns out, is the realization that people will be loyal to, and pay a premium for products that not only work but are fun to use. And, if you're the purveyor of this product or service, it pays to be likable, interested in others and so on. If this strikes you as obvious, that's fine. What scares me is the thought that there are people who don't already know this.Obvious as this stuff is, he doesn't always take his own advice. He rightly suggests not to hit people over the head with big words but he's not content with being a promoter or pitch man. He has to be an evangelist. Is he on a mission from god? If you're sufficiently enchanted you might think so.

I'm left asking "but, how?" Guy gave few tangible examples of enchantment, most of the book is explaining what enchantment is...not specifics on how to do it if it doesn't come to you naturally. Worth a read but could be much better...I expected more.

Kawasaki's overall idea, "there is a higher form of persuasion, enchantment" is pretty sound. He lays out pretty clearly his idea and how to achieve it. Also, the book reads REALLY fast because it's mostly lists and stories.Despite the VERY obviousl organization and clarity of thought in the book (which is commendable in and of itself), I was disappointed because he so heavily references the works of others (this can also be a positive). He liberally summarizes other top management books (like Cialdini's "Influence"), in supporting his arguments. In a way, this is good becuase it makes you feel like you don't have to read the other books. The problem I have with it is that he uses the other texts/summaries as support for his argument but doesn't add his own insight. If he spends half the chapter talking about other people's work, he doesn't spend the next half advancing his argument, he let's the other texts do the heavy lifting.My other major problem with the book is how bite-sized everything is. Kawasaki gives you lists and lists and lists of how to do certain things, which are valuable, but are overwhelming compared to the amount of prose in the book.Overall, a good overall view of some of the major popular business/social psychology books out there AND a very quick read, but lacking some of the killer insight I personally was expecting from such a highly rated book.

This will be a short review, for I am a man of few words.I'm in sales as a territory manager in the Carolinas for a manufacturer in the natural products industry. From reading this book, I was able to glean principles to apply in my day to day business with accounts; even though I think this book is geared more toward entrepreneurs.I read a review where someone said this book was too simple. Exactly! I think the book was suppose to be simple. Just as doing business with anyone today should be made simple. This is one of the points I take from 'Enchantment', how to simplify business with the accounts and consumers I come into contact with.The "How To Achieve Likeability" and "How To Achieve Trustworthiness" are two factors that play a big role in what I do in sales. So the bottom line for me here is, it's about building and maintaining the relationship. This makes doing business easier in the long run.The company I work for gives their territory managers multi-paged pitch books to use in selling promotions to accounts. I dislike using them. Too many pages. Guy's 10-20-30 rule is what I now follow. I tweak my Keynote presentations to make them short and sweet. All the other information from the pitch-books I learn and can relay without a slide.

This is a good introduction to Korean cooking, while it is geared to children it is also excellent for adults who are just starting to cook. This book reminds me of a cookbook for a teenager. There are lots of pictures in this book. I think some of the recipes has been Americanized to be quick and easy. I also like to let you know about Koamart.com. If you're thinking about getting Korean food online then I would advise you to be careful about Komart.com. Not only did I not receive my stuff from them they won't even respond to my emails. Komart.com told me to send them my information so I went to my bank and sent them a copy of my check that they cashed but they won't contact me. Buy your stuff from other online sites.

This might be a children't book. If it is, I will change my rating, but the only indications that it is not for adults is its condescending, simplistic tone, lack of recipes, photos from a stock service, and dearth or content.The recipes are not very good, either.
