This book gets to the bottom of who Scott Peterson really was, what he wanted us to believe, and with all Van Der Leek books I learn something new that no one else notices.
Decided there fate..Rest in Peace..Although we never met....I Love You Both. Judith A.PetersonGOD LOVES YOUR PRECIOUS SOULS.SLEEP WELL.
This book is total garbage and a complete waste of time! I have followed the Peterson case since day one and have read every court doc related to this case. Van der Leek made so many mistakes I lost count. This book is filled with fantasy speculation and outright false information. From the start the premise is a lie. Van der Leek writes that Scott told a friend how he would dispose of a body, that "tip" was brought up at trial and even detective Brocchini deemed it was not credible and said so during his testimony. That didn't stop van der Leek from using it in his book. Don't waste your money or time on this one!
Slow moving. I can't even read a book about Laci Peterson's murder without the writer bashing Donald Trump. I stopped reading this dull book when I got to that point.
This is pure fiction and a total disregard for the truth and due process. This man is in the middle of an appeal and this writer is cashing in by publishing a book based on speculations, assertions and theories that were rebutted or never presented at trial. At times, Modesto becomes Modesta and even the name of Peterson's friend is misspelled. There was no gun in the car he owned when arrested and detective Buehler admitted on an A&E show, that its content was typical of a man living in his car. His hair color was changed to avoid media attention. Nothing to do with mourning your wife. All of a sudden, Peterson did not know that his wife's name was on the house title or that a life insurance usually takes 7 years to pay in cases of missing people. According to this book, he was desperate and on the verge of losing his job and his house. An accountant testified that they were financially stable. TradeCorp was going to give him a raise. He could have found another job if he hated his career as a fertilizer salesman. Laci was worth more alive than dead because of the inheritance coming her way. and she had inquired about buying real estate in a better area of California. She would have survived a divorce. The author keeps bringing other cases in the mix. According to this book, Amanda Knox, Steven Avery, the McCanns and the Ramseys are guilty. I do not know what I was expecting, but certainly not an introduction based on a tip refuted by the case detective and make believe stories about Peterson's state of mind and alleged trips to the marina.
I'm going to give this book about the Petersons a much better review than others have. This author comes up with many clear and pointed analyses of each of their motives and actions. We've all heard the "story", the rundown of what happened in its essence. But we are pretty much stumped as to how a guy could think this murder would work out for him. van der Leek gives us some clear insight into that. The book is quite disjointed and the many typos don't help at all but I found the work compelling enough to overlook all that. His writing style is sort of a running thought-process which amazingly I liked This is not a cops report. It's far more like a psychoanalyst's approach but totally in layman's terms. You won't get doc psychobabble here. Other than the typos etc the one thing that threw me was how it just abruptly ends, like the typewriter broke or something. Extremely weird but the rest of it is worth the read.Regarding the actual goings on in this case, I'm one who puts considerable blame on Lacy herself. Why? Because she wore the pants in the family and was domineering. She had to know their finances were sketchy at best, a disaster at worst. but she had to have a baby right then. I'll bet my bottom dollar she nagged Scott into it and insisted it would be wonderful. Well ladies, you can't live in a world of fantasy without taking some hits. If you're wondering, this is no dude talking, nor an ingenue nor a prim, proper spinster librarian.
I was not disappointed, never am.Will be waiting with bated breath for Monday and Book #2!!I need these perspectives, to understand, and to make some sense of the story.
You probably think Scott killed Laci because he didn’t want a baby with her, and because he wanted to be free to be with Amber Frey his mistress. That’s certainly what I thought, along with most of the world. This bombshell of a narrative reexamines the motive and method for this seemingly clean cut crime. I thought I knew what day Laci was murdered and exactly why, but I didn’t. This novel will blow the socks off of those who thought they knew too.
